PA Fishing Report 8/5/2020

Stream:  Big Spring Creek (Newville, PA)

Date:   8/5/2020

Guide:  Ben Broscius

What to Expect: Big Spring is fishing very well right now. Consistent flows and constant cold water are producing great fishing at anytime of the day. Fish of all different sizes are being landed.

Stream Flow: 32 CFS – Median is 31 CFS

Water Temp: Low/mid 50’s

Clarity: Clear

General Overview:  Dry dropper has been working very well. Fish are rising to the dry about as much as they are eating the lightly weighted nymph subsurface.

Best Advice: Fish the deeper heads of the riffles. Fish seem to be holding in this water very strongly – but be sure not to overlook the shallow flats as they as they are holding trout as well.

Go To Patterns:

Elk Hair Caddis(16-20)

Drab Pheasant Tail(14-18)

Tan mop(10-12)

Yellow Stimulator(12-16)

Blue Perdigon(16-18)

Brown/Black France Fly(14-18)
